To Build a Fire-Wolves Excerpts  (639KB)  To Build a Fire-Excerpt-A  (739KB)  To Build a Fire-Excerpt-B  (681KB)  A musical setting of Jack London's story of a Alaskan man's struggle with wolves, hunger, and himself.  The wolves are portrayed by the soprano saxophone (Jack) and the English Horn. The band is the Atlantic Wind Symphony of Long island conducted by Kenneth Soper. The wolves speak out at least five times in the piece which showcases the whole band. (Copyright 1999)
